I am a Johns-Hopkins trained, award-winning Harvard psychiatrist, affiliated with McLean and Mass General Brigham, quadruple board certified in Addiction Medicine, Obesity Medicine, Adult Psychiatry, and Child Psychiatry. My name is Dr. Yveda Brutus DNP. I graduated from UMass Chan Medical School in Worcester. I am a dual-Board-Certified NP specializes in PMHNP and AGPCNP, and I have more than 5 years of experience in practice. I adhere to a comprehensive care framework that incorporates both medical and psychiatric disciplines. My goal is to provide treatment to individuals suffering from complex psychiatric disorders in regaining control of their lives. My approach is based on the importance of human connections, comprehending the reasons behind their symptoms, and honoring the individual’s power and voice in their treatment and overall well-being.

As a keen practitioner, my journey to helping humanity began 11 years ago after graduating with my Bachelors in Nursing, I dedicated 5 years in serving underserved communities in urban and rural areas, worked in a pediatric facility and top Major Hospitals in Boston. Then I decided to complete my Masters in Nursing at Regis College 5 years ago focusing in internal medication. Mental health medicine caught my attention after working in a methadone and suboxone clinic. I further pursed my interest by working at SouthBay for over 2 years, now at Boston Neurobehavioral Associates for almost 2 years.

I am a social worker and a nurse who has been in the field of behavioral health for much of my 20 + year career. I have worked in acute care inpatient psychiatric settings, the emergency department performing crisis evals as well as medical settings as an RN throughout several hospitals on the north shore. My approach is personable, patient and caring as I get to know you and work WITH you to help you achieve the highest level of function possible on the most appropriate medications available to you.

Making the decision to pursue psychiatric treatment requires courage and motivation. Because no two people are the same, treatment for every person should be individually tailored. I do therapy, and use medications when they are needed. Some of the therapies I use are hypnotherapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, couples and family therapy. I help with anxiety, mood problems, habit problems, co-morbid medical and psychiatric problems, relationship and family problems.
