I am a psychiatrist (medical doctor/physician) skilled in psychotherapy (talk therapy, counseling, and psychoanalysis). I specialize in helping people reach their full potential by answering difficult life questions such as, "What's happening," "What does this mean," and perhaps most importantly, "What should I do?" With years of clinical experience treating patients of all ages, from children to adults, I meet my patients where they are. I collaborate with each patient to find what they need, whether that be short or long-term psychotherapy, medication, or a combination that fits the person.

Negative thought patterns can leave one feeling stuck and in a depressive state. With plans, goals, and visions unattainable due to the mental battle of self doubt, isolation, and hopelessness. Did you know the longer one lasts in a chronic state of anxiety, the dire the need for treatment becomes? Anxiety can result in emotional paralysis- or a feeling of not being able to move due to multiple brain tabs open. How do we treat anxiety and other mood struggles? Research suggests: talk therapy as the first line treatment for negative mood episodes. However, medications may be an additional tool and can be an option for you.

Dr. Robert Daboval is a psychiatrist who treats mood and anxiety disorders through medication management and interventional psychiatric treatments such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Spravato (esketamine) nasal spray. He understands that the most fruitful physician-patient relationships are built on trust and collaboration. Diagnosis can only be achieved through full comprehension of a patient and their life, which requires a patient to open up fully to their psychiatrist. It is a big ask and is understandably challenging for a patient, but it also leads to the best treatment outcomes.

Focus is harder, resilience is thinner, and rest no longer resets you. You’re not here for surface-level care—you’re here because something deeper needs to be understood and corrected. I specialize in medication management for depression, ADHD, anxiety, Addiction, Opioid use disorder, and Suboxone management. I work with high-functioning adults—and adolescents 12+—who need thoughtful, psychiatric care when standard approaches haven’t gone far enough. If you’re ready for care that matches the life you’ve built, schedule a comprehensive evaluation.

Psychoanalytic Psychiatrists
Does psychoanalytic therapy work?
Psychoanalytic therapy derives from the work of Sigmund Freud. In this type of therapy, discovering buried thoughts and emotions from the unconscious will help a person work through their difficulties and negative behaviors. Research shows that psychoanalytic therapy can be highly effective, with patients reporting improvement in mood, quality of life, and overall well-being.

How long are people typically in psychoanalytic therapy?
Traditional psychoanalysis is in-depth and is conducted in five sessions every week. Today, modern psychoanalytic therapy is less intense and normally incorporates as few as one or two sessions a week. In some cases, positive change can occur quickly. However, if the condition, difficulty, or behavior is deep-seated, improvement may require many months or years of therapy.

Is psychoanalytic therapy suitable for young people?
Children and adolescents can benefit from this type of therapy. Many kids and teens are often unable to form and communicate their thoughts and emotions. Psychoanalytic therapy uses specific techniques such as dream analysis, symbolism, and free association or word association; all of which can be useful tools for less-communicative young people. Through this therapy, a patient will hopefully make connections between what they feel inside and how the world works outside.

Can psychoanalytic therapy be done online?
Modern-day psychoanalytic therapy is very different from traditional psychoanalysis. While an individual can sit face-to-face with the psychoanalyst for multiple sessions a week, they do not have to. Today, psychoanalytic therapy can be effectively conducted online or by phone. The key is that the individual confronts what is repressed and avoided, and this can be done whether in person or over online video.
