I spent much of the past decade overseeing an anxiety-focused clinical program at UCSF and teaching about the neuroscience of fear and anxiety at the school of medicine. So when I decided to build a psychiatry practice closer to home, I knew I wanted to continue that specialty focus in my own community.
Anxiety and fear are adaptive and protective emotions. They exist to enhance physical and mental readiness and prepare us to manage future threats. My practice targets ways to harness these emotions and bring them back into balance within the day-to-day lives of my patients.
Anxiety responds to a body and brain approach. I find treatment plans that incorporate the benefits of exercise and nutrition as well as therapy and medication chart the most effective course toward restoring balance.
