Dr. Ahmed is an Affiliate Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences at the University of South Florida. He completed his residency training at Temple University Hospital in psychiatry and then joined Johns Hopkins School of Medicine where he completed a two-year fellowship in Neuropsychiatry and Behavioral Neurology. He moved to Tampa in 2016 to start his private neuropsychiatry practice, Tampa Neuropsychiatry LLC. Dr. Ahmed specializes in the treatment of psychiatric disorders including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, schizophrenia, and adult ADHD. He also has subspecialty training in dementia including Alzheimer's and brain injuries.
Neuropsychiatry involves treating the emotional, behavioral, and cognitive symptoms that occur in the context of psychiatric diseases (depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, substance use disorders, schizophrenia) and neurological diseases (Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, dementia) and brain injuries (traumatic brain injury, stroke, brain infection, hypoxia, cancer, toxin exposure).
Treatment is multifaceted, holistic, and is based on diagnosis. For example, depression may be due genetics, vitamin deficiencies, psychologically traumatic experiences, injury to the frontal lobe, a hormonal disturbance caused by injury to the pituitary gland, or precipitated by loss of functionality in daily life.

The Neuropsychiatry and TMS Group (TNP) is an outpatient psychiatry practice that was founded by Dr. Faizi Ahmed in 2016 in Tampa, FL. He is a board-certified psychiatrist and fellowship-trained from Johns Hopkins. We have three locations: Tampa, St Petersburg, Brandon. We diagnose and treat all psychiatric disorders and see our patients on a regular basis, ranging from every two weeks to every 3 months. We utilize neuromodulation strategies such as TMS and also ketamine (Spravato). We assess for a need for psychotherapy (counseling, therapy) and refer to esteemed local colleagues.
