Dr. Grace Kwon is a dually board-certified psychiatrist with 15+ years of experience who recently decided to reopen her private practice so that more insured patients will have access to a psychiatrist, especially those who are struggling with addiction disorders. Dr. Kwon attained her Bachelor's from UCLA, her Doctorate of Osteopathy from Western University, Psychiatry Residency from Harbor UCLA, and Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship from Yale New Haven Medical Center. She has published several studies and authored chapter in a book about Motivational Interviewing.
Dr. Kwon's experience spans across many cultures, ages, and socio-economic statuses. Regardless of who, every person is seen as a human with a mind and body that are inextricably intertwined. Therefore, using a single method of treatment is never sufficient: medication management with therapy, lifestyle changes, etc may be prescribed.
While completing her fellowship at Yale, she helped develop a curriculum for counselors about working with patients who have co-occurring addiction and chronic pain. She has authored portions of an instruction book for clinicians titled Motivational Interviewing for Clinical Practice. Additionally, she obtained a certificate from NADA in acupuncture.
