During her training, she worked in multiple settings including a state hospital, a community hospital, as well as veteran hospital. Adrienne works with a wide range of mental health issues and practices trauma-informed care to fully support her patients in moving through challenges at a safe, effective pace. She approaches treatment holistically, believing that medication is only one aspect of person-centered care. She incorporates current alternative therapies that are evidence-based, focusing on complementary practices such as meditation, exercise, nutrition, lifestyle modifications, supplements, and coordinating care with psychotherapists. I am a board certified child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist. I use a developmental biopsychosocial model to guide my clinical work. This model integrates biological (e.g. genetics), psychological (e.g. self concept), and sociological (e.g. family roles, culture) aspects of individuals at different stages of their lives. I find this model particularly useful in my work with athletes as well as people with ADHD and eating disorders. I also have a special interest in group psychotherapy and insight oriented individual psychotherapy.

My goal is to help my you thrive and become the most self-realized individual you can be. Often that entails at least some level of healing, whether physical, emotional, relational, or even spiritual, before we leverage awareness of the obstacles that stand in the way of living our fullest. My approach to psychiatry is to seamlessly blend medications and therapy so that you can truly live. While medications can be very helpful at times, I don't believe in a magic pill. It is important that you share with me your values and goals so we can also collaborate to find non-pharmacological approaches to helping you thrive.

Treatment should be individualized according to a patient's problems and special needs. That may include therapy with or without medication. After making a thoughtful diagnosis, you and I would agree on a treatment plan that would help you to achieve relief from your difficulties. By attentively listening to you and asking relevant questions, I would help you resolve the underlying conflicts that contribute to your distress. By understanding the problem I can help you find the tools to find peace from the problems that disturb you.

I am a dual certified nurse practitioner. My background is unique in that I am board certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) as well as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP). I am passionate for both women’s health and psychiatry and have been practicing for over 10 years. I have a heart to serve and I am very passionate about what I do. I am board-certified as both a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and a Family Nurse Practitioner. My career as a clinician span over 14 years of inpatient and outpatient care experience across multiple specialties including – Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Urgent Care, Pediatrics, Pain Management, Med-Surg, Telemetry, Mental Health, and Substance Abuse Disorder. I obtained a Master of Science degree in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Chamberlain University and a Post-master's degree as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse from Maryville University. I also have a Bachelor of Nursing from Mercer University.

Dr. Fortmeier was employed at University of Texas Health Science Center as an assistant professor with a clinical practice in psychiatry. Her experience includes inpatient & outpatient psychiatry as well as primary care. Her prior nurse practitioner populations include individuals with acute and chronic mental health disorders, IDD & crisis stabilization.

Dykstra Freeman, APRN has more than 10 years of experience in the behavioral health field. In addition to APRN, he has served as an RN and an MHT. Education is fundamental to his work and his expertise. He has a Master of Science degree in Nursing from Walden University, two Bachelor’s degrees (biology and nursing) from Northwestern State University at LA, and an Associate’s in Nursing from Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University of LA.

I am a Board Certified Adult Psychiatrist with advanced training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry where I served as Chief Fellow.
