I am a board-certified, Mayo Clinic trained psychiatrist, and psychoanalyst. My psychoanalytic training enables me to help patients both with their immediate symptoms and with underlying issues. These underlying issues, while not always obvious, can greatly contribute to and sometimes even be the cause of the presenting symptoms. This approach helps patients address their problems in a more comprehensive and lasting way; it helps them grow and become more content, productive and creative individuals.
My services include evaluation, diagnosis, and wide-ranging treatment approaches, including medications, patient education, psychodynamic and psychoanalytic psychotherapy, and psychoanalysis. Most of my patients see me for psychotherapy, or a combination of medication management and psychotherapy.
I am an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Minnesota. In addition to my clinical work, I also teach psychotherapy and supervise residents (psychiatrists in training), fellows and medical students at the University of Minnesota, Hennepin County Medical Center and Mayo Clinic in Rochester.
