My name is Dr. Jaya LaFontaine. I am a board certified Adult, Child, and Adolescent Psychiatrist, seeing people of all ages. I provide virtual telepsychiatry services in the state of Missouri. I believe in the power of words to help us explore, discover, clarify, process, and heal ourselves. Every person deserves to be seen and heard for who they are regardless of where they come from or what they believe. I provide a safe, inclusive, confidential, and compassionate space for my patients.
Patients often come into care because they have tried several avenues to help themselves and are still struggling to cope. I have a wide range of experiences with various populations that helps me recognize the external symptoms of internal conflicts. Scientific studies show most mental illness is multi-factorial. So, treatment should be multi-pronged.
I have worked in my field for over 10 years and specialize in trauma-related mental illness, reducing polypharmacy, and delivering culturally sensitive, and inclusive care.
