A psychiatrist gets training in neurology and psychiatry after finishing medical school. There are situations when a psychiatric problem may have underlying medical or neurological causes. He can order tests to rule out such situations before he prescribes mood and thought altering medications. He can offer psychotherapy and behavior modification.
I have worked in both clinical and teaching positions at Mental Health Clinics , State Hospital, Spartanburg Regional Hospital and PRISMA Health System. My approach in Psychiatry is Client Centered.
