About
Thanks very much for viewing my profile. I'm a board-certified psychiatrist who's very knowledgeable about helping people with depression, bipolar disorder, medical illnesses, and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). In addition to medication and cognitive-behavioral therapy, I'm also interested in the complementary use of meditation, mindfulness, exercise, light therapy, and companion animals. I believe that the key to successful treatment is a thorough biological, psychological, and social assessment followed by shared decision-making between patient and doctor. Please feel free to contact me for a phone consultation at no charge.
I received my BA from Columbia and MD from NYU and completed my psychiatry residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. After serving in the Air Force and on the faculty at Penn, I moved to Ohio State, where I founded an outpatient depression and bipolar disorder clinic.
More recently, I was professor of psychiatry at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and a psychiatrist at the San Antonio VA, where I studied companion dogs for veterans with PTSD. I look forward to speaking with you about how we can work together.
