Soudabeh Givrad, MD, Psychiatrist in San Mateo
I am a board certified psychiatrist who sees adults, children, adolescents, families, and couples. I strive to create a compassionate, empathic, and safe environment where you are able to explore and work on issues that have brought you to treatment. I am committed to helping patients better understand themselves and find ways to overcome difficulties in order to have more fulfilling lives. To me, a collaborative approach, in which you and I work together towards shared goals is very important and to be able to do that I believe in listening to each individual, their goals, strengths, struggles, and difficulties very carefully.
I will work with you to design an individualized treatment plan that's right for you. I am a firm believer in psychotherapy, but also use my expertise in medication management when needed. I have a focus on psychodynamic psychotherapy and also draw on my knowledge of CBT, DBT, mindfulness techniques, and supportive therapy.
In addition to private practice, I am an attending psychiatrist at the Stanford University School of Medicine in the General Child Psychiatry Clinic. I am also the perinatal psychiatrist in the Obstetrics Clinic at Stanford working with pregnant and postpartum women around perinatal mental health issues.
