I am a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. I have worked with clients with mood disorders, psychosis, and insomnia, among other disorders. My approach to mental healthcare is to dissect the many components of life and how they can affect our mental well-being. My typical patient population is individuals 18-65 years old with mood disorders, OCD, psychosis, PTSD, and insomnia. The focus for my patients is to ultimately eliminate symptoms without polypharmacy, combining therapy when applicable.
When providing mental healthcare, some of the most common approaches I implement are how stress, lack of physical activity, poor sleep quality, and diet can affect the brain. Theoretical approaches such as CBT, ACT, and Mindfulness are utilized to help navigate daily stressors with the use of coping skills.
The environment I like to create is one of honesty, accountability, and transparency. I want my patients to feel comfortable talking about their challenges and expectations. The input of my patients is vital to the provider and patient relationship is one where both parties can be open and honest with each other and within ourselves.
