Shicara was born and raised in Macon, GA. Shicara Irvin started her career as a Medical Service Apprentice in the United States Air Force Reserve. In 2006, she obtained a diploma as a Licensed Practical Nurse from Augusta Technical College. In 2010, she then continued her education by obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Norfolk State University. She later decided to pursue a Master of Science in Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner from Walden University in 2017, and a Post-Master's Certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in 2018 from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.

Shicara Irvin has several years of experience working with adolescents and adults in various nursing settings. She has experience working in mental health, acute care, inpatient detox facilities, residential facilities, community mental health centers, and private practices.

She specializes in treating post-traumatic stress disorder, insomnia, sleep-wake disorders, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety, bipolar disorder, brief psychotic disorder, schizophrenia, and schizoaffective disorder. She has firsthand experience working with veterans and understanding their needs.
