Whether this is your first psychiatric evaluation or your fifth opinion, you want a doctor who takes the question seriously. I am a neuropsychiatrist and I treat adults with ADHD, anxiety, OCD, depression, bipolar disorder, and PTSD, along with the harder problems: cognitive symptoms after an injury, psychiatric illness that overlaps with neurological disease, and medication lists that have grown for years without anyone asking why.
Evaluations are unhurried: a full hour for new patients, longer when the history calls for it. I practice medication management grounded in careful diagnosis, and I am as willing to stop a medication as to start one. I completed a neuropsychiatry fellowship at Stanford, with additional fellowship training in forensic psychiatry.
