Starting as a registered nurse at Spartanburg Medical Center, Kevin's passion for mental health led him to pursue advanced education, becoming an ANCC-Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. With experience in both inpatient and outpatient care, he established Upstate Mental Health, LLC in January 2021, making history as Spartanburg's first Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner-owned office in December 2021.

I have always held an interest in the mind and human behavior. Working in the adult outpatient program (PHP) program taught me a lot about the intertwined roles of nursing and social work, as well as allowed me the opportunity to teach coping skill classes (e.g., guided imagery, self-esteem, sleep hygiene, and medication adherence). Serving both private practice and elderly care clients, I specialize in treating ADHD, OCD, anxiety, depression, insomnia, and dementia.

The depth of the human mind is a frontier rivaled only by the heavens; and it never ceases to amaze me that more attention isn’t paid to mental health in medicine. From the effects of depression on immune function to the relationship between pain and anxiety, human emotion proves itself time and again a powerful driver in total well-being.

Most recently she served as a forensic nurse and sexual assault nurse examiner in both a clinician and an educator role. In this role she provided expert care to patients experiencing sexual assault, intimate partner violence, child abuse/neglect, and vulnerable adult abuse/neglect.
