I am a board certified psychiatric nurse practitioner, experienced at treating those age 16 and older with symptoms of depression, anxiety, Bipolar, PTSD, ADHD, Binge Eating, Autism Spectrum and thought disorders and/or those facing a difficult life transition. Although I prescribe medications when needed, I also can provide psychotherapy and a holistic approach where I consider all aspects of health as the potential cause of symptoms.
Prior to becoming a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I worked for many years as a medical-surgical and psychiatric nurse in a hospital setting. This background helps me understand the possible physical problems contributing to mental health symptoms. I often treat Social Anxiety Disorder, which is very common and yet left undiagnosed in so many.
My motto is: Treatment is not a one course meal of meds, but is a buffet. Included in this "buffet" of treatment is assessing not only symptoms, but strengths and talents.
