Hi, my name is Sakina Alston, and I am a psychiatric nurse practitioner. I have an RN license, a nurse practitioner license, and a DEA license. My approach to mental wellness is self-empowering and non-judgmental. Regardless of where you are starting, I am here to support you as you work on your mental health. My approach is integrative and holistic, I utilize therapy, supplements, recommend lifestyle changes and medication to optimize mental strengths and so patients can make progress in their lives.
I enjoy working with young adults who are focused on planning out next steps or trying to get "unstuck." I am able to relate to ambitious and empathetic individuals who are burned out and need help setting boundaries and getting rest; I am able to guide them to a more balanced life.
The patient should expect to help me understand their full social, medical, and mental health history and current status, and be able to tell me what they would like to achieve or what symptoms they are seeking to alleviate. We will build the treatment plan based on this appointment. I help them to set goals relevant to their expressed objectives.
