Robert Guevara, MD, is a board-certified psychiatrist with over 30 years of experience in the healthcare field. Born and raised in Harlingen, Texas, Dr Guevara began his career as a nurse aide and later became a registered nurse before pursuing a brief stint as a physician assistant. In 2000, he earned his medical degree with honors from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston College of Medicine. He then completed a dual residency in psychiatry and family medicine at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in Tulsa.
Dr Guevara practiced integrated family medicine and psychiatry for two years before focusing exclusively on psychiatry and addiction medicine. Currently, Dr Guevara provides care in a community mental health outpatient clinic, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center, and a local hospital in Harlingen.
In his free time, Dr Guevara enjoys reading, cinema, exercise, and spending time with his family.
