I was born in Michigan and have resided here for most of my life. I attended Wayne State University earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and obtained my medical degree from the Wayne State University School of Medicine. I completed an Adult Psychiatry Residency at Medical College of Ohio in Toledo, OH followed by a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship also at the Medical College of Ohio. I especially love working with children, adolescents, and their families. I am also a wife, mother, daughter, and sister.
It is my belief that mental health practitioners and their clients are on a journey to wellness together. The most important part of my job as a psychiatrist is providing educational opportunities for patients to understand their illnesses and how to best maintain a happy, healthy lifestyle.
Psychiatric disorders have better outcomes when those affected are pursuing active, healthy lifestyles in general. Therefore, it is very important to teach people how to advocate for themselves in the therapeutic relationship as well as teaching lifestyle changes that promote general health and wellbeing.
