Experience, insight, integrity, depth, support. I specialize in understanding you and what's happening: your culture, current dilemmas, patterns, strengths, interests, relationships, life history, and visions of yourself and the world. Our work will be tailored to fit your individual needs, through therapy, medications, or both. I have advanced training and interest in depth work, including psychodynamic and mindfulness approaches. The goal is to help you cope with life, grow, enjoy fulfilling relationships, achieve your potential and develop resilience. Board Certified Distinguished Fellow of the APA, active writer, and member of Asian American committee of the Northern California Psychiatric Society.

I will work to understand you and your situation on all levels: biological, psychological, social, cultural and spiritual. I enjoy working with mindfulness techniques, as well as psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and short- and long-term therapies. The goal is generating wisdom, compassion, insight and relatedness through the therapeutic relationship.

I'm both a good listener and interactive: I'm not afraid to be "in the room". I'm known for a good sense of humor. As a writer (see my blog), I do my best to hone both my understanding and ability to process and articulate thoughts and feelings.

Mindful Self Compassion 8 week workshop group

Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) is an empirically-supported, 8-week, training program designed to cultivate the skill of self-compassion. Based on the groundbreaking research of Kristin Neff and the clinical expertise of Christopher Germer, MSC teaches core principles and practices that enable participants to respond to difficult moments in their lives with kindness, care and understanding. The three key components of self-compassion are self-kindness, a sense of common humanity, and balanced, mindful awareness.
