I am a child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist and psychoanalyst providing individual psychotherapy, play therapy, couples therapy, pharmacotherapy and psychoanalysis to patients for the following presenting symptoms: anxiety, depression, poor school performance, stuttering, lack of motivation, and finding oneself in relationships with people who are devaluating and/or abusive. My interpersonal focus is to help each patient become aware of what he or she consciously or unconsciously does that prevents the patient from developing developmentally enhancing relationships with significant others.
STUTTERING: I have been successful in treating children, adolescents and adults burdened with the problem of stuttering. To develop stuttering a person must possess a genetically derived physiological vulnerability in the speech mechanism and the, often unconscious anxiety about verbalizing certain thoughts and feelings. Stuttering can be cured when patient.
My overall treatment goal is to awaken patients innate motivation (1) to achieve/reawaken the life goals, aspirations and dreams that were criticized/ignored during their lives, (2) to seek/maintain the available/possible healthy relationships, (3) by identifying and treating the aspects of their mental functioning that prohibit (1) and (2).

Groups
Adult Stutterers Group
A group is being formed for adult stutterers who have had speech therapy and are not motivated to use speech techniques that modify their stuttering, like speaking at a slow rate or using 'Hollins," because they are embarrassed about how their speech subsequently sounds. In addressing difficulties in using speech techniques, individuals may not only become more tolerant of using these techniques but also become motivated to understanding why he or she stutters more in certain situations or with certain people. The result can be a significant decrease in the adult's stuttering or even a complete cessation of stuttering.
