With a background a Nurse Midwife, I have special interest in serving clients who are pregnant, postpartum, experiencing perinatal loss or fertility challenges, or affected by hormonal changes. I bring a comprehensive understanding of reproductive and physical health to assist clients in weighing options for care and building a treatment plan that is consistent with their goals and values.

I am board certified in psychiatry and a proud therapist with the American Alpine Association's Climbing Grief Fund and the American Avalanche Association Resilience Project. I earned a B.S. in biology from Virginia Tech and a masters in counseling at George Washington University. I worked as an LPC in eating disorders, addictions, and general psychiatry for 7 years before completing my Doctor of Nursing Practice. My doctoral project focused on cognitive behavioral therapy for eating disorders and the relationship between exercise, anxiety/depression, and cardiovascular health. I am also a former paramedic.

I am committed to walking beside you as you gain insight, learn new skills, and grow the self-belief to create the life you want to live. I firmly believe that one path does not fit all, and my life is evidence of that. I worked as a therapist prior to becoming a PMHNP, and bring a diverse set of professional, educational and life experience to each session. Using empathy and authenticity, my goal is to help you find and live your own truth.

I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). I began my career at the Menninger Clinic in Houston, TX where I gained invaluable experience working with young adults with complex trauma, substance abuse, and mood & personality disorders. From this experience, I learned that it is a provider’s responsibility to therapeutically guide care that targets the core issues leading to a patient’s mental health challenges, not just treat a diagnosis. Since leaving Menninger, I have had the chance to care for a variety of patients in community, emergency, and forensic settings.

We have over 20 years of experience offering face-to-face and telehealth services to change health disparities and improve overall wellness in the lives of our clients. Patients can access mental health counseling and medication management from clinicians who look like them. We offer various therapeutic modalities and extended services through mentorship and advocacy support. (BMWIT) was established in 2022 to support closing the health disparities gap for people of color by offering mental health awareness and wellness services allowing patients/clients to grow into thriving human beings. We have also added a FNP for primary care.

My practice is focused on holistic and integrative psychiatry, and my passion is working with individuals seeking a fresh perspective on their mental health. In our work together, we will examine underlying cause(s) of symptoms, lifestyle factors such as diet and inflammation, as well as any experiences of trauma and disconnection. When root causes are addressed, we can tap into the body’s natural ability to heal and promote lasting well-being.
