I am really easy to talk to and some people say I am nonchalant. I am accepting new clients with same day appointments available. After-hours and weekends appointments are available as well. In network with most major insurances in Oregon State and private pay rates are affordable. I believe in client driven and holistic care. I offer in a laidback informal setting where everyone feels comfortable telling their story. Most treatment plans involve medication, therapy, or a combination of both. The aim of our first few sessions is to come up with a mutually agreed treatment plan with the first session being a listening session.

We will use a comprehensive, integrative and holistic approach.
At times medication is necessary. Medications can be beneficial while you learn other strategies. And there are alternatives. This may include supplements, herbal remedies, nutraceuticals and learning mindfulness awareness and self-compassion. We can work together to find the resilience that comes with the knowledge and use of multiple strategies.

At Northstar Psychiatry we treat adults and adolescents across the spectrum of psychiatric needs while specializing in treating depression. We bring a multimodal approach to treating depression and we understand that medication is not always the answer to addressing a person's needs. Sometimes it's therapy, sometimes it's a combination. For some, an interventional approach using a non-pharmacological treatment like transcranial magnetic stimulation is the right answer. Our goal is to work with each individual to create a treatment plan that meets their individual needs using cutting edge science alongside tried and true methods

My approach to care is both personalized and thorough. While psychiatric symptoms are essential to assess, I recognize true healing in improvements in one's quality of life, sense of peace, empowerment, and functional abilities.

My approach is integrative, which means that treatment with medications may be combined with non-medication options, such as mindfulness-based interventions, life-style optimization, and nutritional supplementation.
Patients and families working with me are motivated to learn and apply new skills, and are interested in integrating medications with non-medication options. I treat a range of ages, from 3 years old to adulthood; particular areas of focus include the diagnosis and treatment of neurodevelopmental disorders (ADHD, ASD) and stress and anxiety disorders.

Integrative psychiatric care that might include medications offers space to slow down, understand what’s happening beneath the surface, and move toward a life that feels more steady and meaningful.
You may look like you’re holding it together—but inside, something isn’t working. Anxiety, depression, or disconnection persist despite your efforts. Many I work with are thoughtful, high-functioning, and used to figuring things out alone—until that stops working. LGBTQ+ clients often carry added stress from not feeling fully seen. People often come to me after therapy or medication hasn’t helped enough and they’re ready for something deeper, more effective, and more honest.

FAQ - Integrative Psychiatrists
What is integrative psychiatry?
Integrative psychiatry is an approach in which a psychiatrist draws from multiple treatment modalities, including different types of psychotherapy and medication management, to create a treatment plan tailored to an individual's specific needs. Rather than relying on a single therapeutic technique or defaulting straight to medication, an integrative psychiatrist considers a client's health holistically and collaborates with them to identify the most effective combination of treatments.

What can an integrative psychiatrist help with?
An integrative psychiatrist can address a wide range of mental health concerns by combining therapeutic approaches with medical expertise. Because psychiatrists can both prescribe medication and provide psychotherapy, they are uniquely positioned to adjust treatment plans based on how a client responds to different interventions. Integrative psychiatry can be part of a treatment plan for anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, trauma, OCD, ADHD, personality disorders, substance use disorders, and a variety of other conditions. An integrated approach may be particularly useful when a mental health condition has not historically responded to one form of treatment alone.

How do I know if integrative psychiatry is right for me?
Integrative psychiatry may be a good fit if you have previously tried a single treatment approach, such as medication or therapy alone, and have not seen the results you were hoping for. It may also be worth exploring if your symptoms feel complex or interconnected, if you prefer a more collaborative approach to your care, or if you want a provider who will consider multiple factors contributing to your mental health rather than focusing solely on medication management. On the other hand, if your condition is well-managed with a straightforward treatment plan of therapy or medication alone, a regular psychiatrist may be sufficient. The best way to determine whether integrative psychiatry is the right approach is to schedule a consultation with a prospective psychiatrist to discuss your treatment history, current symptoms, and goals of care.
