Dr. Tara Thompson, DNP, PMHNP-BC is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner providing care to patients in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York. Dr. Tara started her career as a therapist after earning a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology degree from Eastern University where she was trained in cognitive-behavioral therapy and systemic therapy. She later decided to change direction and pursue an education and career in nursing where she worked in cardiology and neurology.
She eventually made the decision to return back to her “first love”, psychiatry, and obtained a Master of Science Degree in Nursing and later a Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Drexel University. Dr. Tara believes that people are multi-faceted and understanding their lives and experiences requires the ability to look at treatment from multiple
perspectives including psychological, biological and developmental. She believes in nurturing the capacity for resilience and growth while diagnosing and treating mental health. When she is not working she enjoys senjoys spending time with her family, friends and her “fur babies”. She loves to travel, watch horror movies, read fiction & Zumba! Call us today!
