I am especially interested in working with people who see healing their wounds and problems as only one part of an ongoing effort to develop themselves as far as possible. This effort includes development beyond the personal into familial, community, global, and spiritual realms. Seeking to promote this perspective I am the senior editor of Textbook of Transpersonal Psychiatry and Psychology for which we won the Will Solimene Award for Excellence in Medical Communication. This perspective also values learning the accumulated knowledge of other cultures.

Welcome. I treat patients facing a wide variety of physical, mental, and spiritual challenges. Depending on your specific needs, the treatment can involve medication as well as psychotherapy. We may work with depth and transpersonal psychology, dreams, non-drug psychedelic states of consciousness, and hypnosis. I also offer acupuncture, ayurvedic medicine, meditation techniques, EMDR, and holotropic breathwork.

Usually people come in for help when there is some distress ( symptoms can be a wake-up call to pay attention- to grow or heal- change- or rest more): I see people from all walks of life- with anxiety, prolonged sadness,grief or stress, pms- menopause symptoms,chronic fatigue, allergies-asthma, thyroid issues, insomnia, co-dependent or burned out workers/ givers, alcoholics wanting more recovery, straight-or gay people etc. I work best with someone that really wants to clear or transform deeper dysfunctional patterns as well, and strive toward higher qualities of soul purpose,love, joy, serenity, focus, balance, and self-discovery.

Dr. Silverman is a board certified Staff Psychist at Talkiatry. He has over 30 years of experience and joined Talkiatry in 2019. He treats clients with talk therapy, medication management when indicated and by supporting clients in making lifestyle changes and choosing health-promoting strategies that produce sustained results. He completed his medical training at Tel Aviv University in Israel. After completing medical training, Dr. Silverman went on to complete two years of Residency in Pediatrics at The Brookdale Hospital Medical Center and an additional two years of Residency in Psychiatry at The Mount Sinai Medical Center.
