He was most recently a nurse practitioner at Addiction Recovery Services of University Hospitals of Cleveland, a program he helped develop in 2004 after an 18 year tenure as a staff nurse, followed by service as a clinical nurse specialist for the Cleveland Clinic Alcohol and Drug Recovery Center. He holds a master's degree in psychology from Cleveland State University, a master's degree in nursing from Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), and a bachelor's degree in nursing from Ursuline College.

I am a lifelong Clevelander. I graduated from Beachwood High School in 1987 and completed my undergraduate education at Cleveland State University. After completing medical school at the University of Toledo College of Medicine, Dr. Cao served as Chief Resident for Consultation and Liaison Psychiatry during her adult psychiatry training at the University of Toledo Medical Center, where she was also recognized by the Department of Psychiatry with the Excellence in Teaching Award.
