These times can be very difficult for children and adolescents. Seems like there is a new catastrophe a day. What makes these even more challenging is that they can occur in any one. Being a trained child and adolescent psychiatrist I am certainly aware. Our group is trained to deal with these periods from many perspectives. We often see those patients who have been seen and treated many times before. Many meds and little response. We do well with these patients. I am a talented diagnostician and have great fluency in using meds that span over 50 years. This helps a great deal. I have also added ketamine assisted psychotherapy using low dose ketamine with associated psychotherapy during the session. I also use polyvagal theory to help in the use of broad range of meds for autonomic nervous system embalance.
