I specialize in long-term, intensive psychotherapy and combined treatments integrating both medication and therapy. I take a modern psychoanalytic or psychodynamic approach to therapy, which simply means that I am interested in thinking together deeply and nonjudgmentally about your experiences to give you an opportunity to develop greater self-understanding and insight into the difficulties you face, whether these difficulties manifest in your thoughts, feelings, relationships, family dynamics, professional activities, or any number of other areas.
While my practice is grounded in the belief that medication alone often cannot address the deeper conflicts and traumas at the root of mental suffering, I understand that a careful and rational approach to prescribing can support the personal work that is necessary for lasting change and emotional growth.
Please note that I am in the process of transitioning my practice from Durham, NC to Boulder, CO. I will continue to see patients in person at my Durham office until June 20, 2025. I can currently meet virtually with patients in both states, and I will be available for in person meetings in Boulder starting on July 1, 2025.
