I differ from almost all psychiatrists in that I avoid electronic health records (EHR). If a provider accepts your insurance they have been strongly incentivized to use EHRs. My belief is that your mental health records should be kept offline because EHRs are accessible to more entities than just your insurance. This lack of privacy is far from your best interest. Therefore, I am private pay and I handwrite all records to keep them offline. I do offer discounts to make my services more affordable and I will give you a paper claim to file your own insurance if you wish, knowing that they cannot access your records. Learn more.
