As a Board Certified General Adult, as well as Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, I specialize in helping children, adolescents, and young adults to overcome and cope with various obstacles throughout the developmental span. I completed my Child and Adolescent training at Columbia and Cornell Universities NYPH Fellowship and stayed on as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Columbia University Child Psychiatry Division. Currently, I am an Associate Director of Pediatric Psychiatry Emergency and Consultation-Liaison Services at Columbia University Medical Center. What I find most rewarding are the one to one clinical encounters with my patients.
A comprehensive assessment, a working alliance with my clients and their families, collaboration with schools and pediatricians, should be the foundation of any treatment. I acknowledge individual strengths and cultural differences. I also pay attention to the individual's life narratives as well as the meaning of their struggle.
I am comfortable with various treatment modalities. As a parent, I understand that a decision to start your child on any medication is not easy. If the medication is indicated, it should only be one of the components of a well-rounded treatment plan. It is a privilege to be in a position to help.
