It activates cells in the brain that tend to be under-active in depression and also promotes release of neurotransmitters that help mood. TMS targets the part of the brain specifically involved in mood regulation. TMS also works on a concept called neuroplasticity. Stimulating the left prefrontal cortex can induce the brain into creating new pathways for effective transmission. Dr. Yin offers other evidence based treatments too.
The patented H coil has been found to help patients achieve remission in as many as half of the patients and up to a 75% response rate in other patients who were unable to get sufficient relief from their depression with conventional treatment (such as medication management and/or psychotherapy).
