My name is Neal W. Dunsieth, and I am a psychiatrist. I did my residency through a joint program with the U.S. Air Force and the Wright State University. I became the Chief Clinical Resident my senior year and stayed on briefly as university staff I left for a joint engagement as both the Chief Clinical Officer of a small community mental health board and as a fellow in the Wright State Forensic Psychiatry program. Since then I have been connected, at least in some way, to community service.
I work in general psychiatry and have a great deal of experience in both urban and rural areas. Generally, I prescribe medications, but I also listen to patients, an art typically lost in modern psychiatric practice.
There are times that I might refer someone to their therapist to explore topics that I may catch a glimpse of in my session. I view medicine as not necessarily curative but as helpful in the daily management of the struggles that come with mental illness.
