I’m Nate Mellum, a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), and I’m especially passionate about working with children and adolescents, though I also see adults on a limited basis. I grew up here in Reno and completed both my undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Nevada, Reno, where I focused on mental health and psychiatry. Before becoming a nurse practitioner, I worked for five years as a registered nurse at the Reno Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Since then, I’ve gained experience in a variety of settings, including outpatient clinics, medical floor consultations, and a mental health crisis unit.
My perspective on mental health deepened during my time abroad doing non-profit work in Africa and India. There, I saw firsthand that mental health is a universal foundation for a fulfilling life, regardless of age, culture, or background.
