I specialize in psychoanalysis, an intensive, in-depth form of psychotherapy for people who are confronting repetitive and confusing patterns in life preventing them from living more fully. My approach involves careful listening and responsiveness to your unique mind and a sharing of your curiosity and commitment to deeper self-understanding and progressive freedom.
I draw upon a background in visual arts and music to help people enhance their creativity and emotional spontaneity, which can be central to healing distress, blockages, and opening up new possibilities. Also trained in infant/child/adolescent psychiatry I recognize and work with early emotional experiences that may be pre-verbal and difficult to access.
I have broad interests in object relations, mind-body relations, new developments in science, and infancy research. I am a Training/Supervising Analyst at the Oregon Psychoanalytic Institute and Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at OHSU.
