I am currently accepting new patients at this time. My approach is collaborative and non-directive, and I act as someone who can help identify possible routes through the challenges of your life but will not insist that you must choose a particular path. I am a consultant for you and what troubles you, and together we can identify what it is you care about in life and makes it worth living, what is standing in the way, and how medications and psychotherapy might be able to help you pursue the former and overcome the later.

I'm looking forward to coming alongside and walking with you as your mental health journey unfolds. I work with adolescents, adults, and older adults navigating ADHD, anxiety, bipolar disorder, burnout, depression, and sleep problems. In 2023 I completed my doctoral training at the University of Washington in Seattle and earned board certification that fall. I've since supported clients from diverse backgrounds with wide-ranging needs, and I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all focus. Whether you're seeking relief, stability, or growth, I'm confident we can create meaningful, lasting change together. I’m here to support you!

Many individuals seek mental health care when they feel overwhelmed, emotionally stuck, or disconnected from the life they want to live. My ideal clients may be navigating anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, chronic stress, or other mental health challenges, and are looking for clarity, stability, and a sense of balance. They want to better understand their symptoms, feel supported without judgment, and regain control over their emotional well-being so they can move forward with confidence.

FAQ - Couples Counseling Psychiatrists
Do psychiatrists see couples?
Yes, psychiatrists are medical doctors who can provide psychotherapy, such as couples counseling, in addition to prescribing medication. While most psychiatry does happen on an individual basis, some psychiatrists specialize in couples. Seeing a psychiatrist may be especially helpful when relationship challenges are connected to diagnosed mental health conditions (like depression, anxiety, trauma, or ADHD) that may benefit from the medical evaluation or medication management provided by a psychiatrist.

Should couples see a therapist or a psychiatrist?
A psychiatrist may be a good fit for couples facing relationship challenges when one or both partners have a diagnosed or suspected mental health condition, are already taking psychiatric medication, or may benefit from a medical evaluation. Psychiatrists can integrate medical care and psychiatric evaluation with relationship counseling, while therapists can not prescribe medication and focus solely on psychotherapy.

What are the differences between a couples psychiatrist and an individual psychiatrist?
All psychiatrists receive the same medical training, so there is no separate training or licensure for couples psychiatrists. However, some psychiatrists choose to offer couples counseling as part of their practice. In couples psychiatry sessions, the focus is on relationship and communication challenges, while also considering each partner’s mental health and any medications they are on. In individual psychiatry, care centers on one person’s symptoms and treatment plan, which allows for more individualized evaluation and medication management. This makes individual psychiatry more appropriate when relationship concerns are not the primary issue and one or both partners are seeking treatment for their own mental health conditions.
