Growing up in a minority and immigrant culture, I witnessed mental health struggles, often seen as a "Western weakness." Despite this, I recognized its importance and supported friends, sparking my desire to help others. In 2016, I was selected for the "Natural Helpers Program," which trains students to provide emotional support. This solidified my interest in mental health care. While pursuing my nursing degree, I realized the most fulfilling part of patient care was connecting with patients on a deeper level. After graduating in 2019, I worked in the operating room, where I found interacting with patients in pre-op most rewarding.
In 2021, I began the Doctor of Nursing Practice - Psychiatric Mental Health program, gaining experience in IOP, outpatient, and private practice settings. This enhanced my skills in patient education, group therapy, medication and case management, and psychotherapy. I received consistent feedback on my ability to form strong therapeutic relationships.
Mental health is crucial to quality of life and I’m passionate about helping individuals lead fulfilling lives. I truly believe patients have the power to heal themselves, and I am dedicated to helping them along their journey.
