I am a Clinical Nurse Specialist, Board Certified in adult psychiatry with many years of clinical experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings, as well as a private practice. I provide psychiatric and medication evaluation with ongoing management for the major DSM Diagnoses, education and supportive therapy. This includes taking an in-depth history, information on alternative treatments and development of an evidenced based treatment plan with identified goals.
Essential is the establishment of mutual trust in a safe and secure environment. Mental health needs post Covid have increased the waitlists for therapy resulting in the need for including supportive therapy providing a more holistic and integrated approach for healing and self empowerment, thereby preventing the need for a higher level of care.
Developing support and trust with use of a variety of modalities such as motivational interviewing (MD), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). Improving insight and self-awareness, healthier coping skills, increasing resilience/self-esteem. resulting in improved level of functioning and decrease need for higher level of care
