I am a functional psychiatrist provides an enhanced way to treat psychiatric conditions and care for the whole-person, not just their symptoms.
My current positions are medical director in several inpatient and outpatient programs.
Conventional psychiatry relies heavily upon pharmaceuticals to reduce or mask the symptoms of mental illness. It assumes nearly every illness is due to a neurotransmitter imbalance, and that medication will alleviate symptoms. However, there are far more factors that influence mental health than just neurotransmitters. Functional medicine can find the causes of your symptoms through special tests.
I am a board certified psychiatrist with special training in Integrative Medicine and Addiction Psychiatry. Besides prescribing medications to patients with follow up treatment, I will discuss with patient about the choices of lab tests, diet, OTC supplements, and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS).
I understand that life stressors affect the mood and behavior of a human. I went through the frustrations and finally fit in the US system. It takes time to change and reach the goal. I can speak fluent English, Chinese and Cantonese.
