Most psychiatric conditions arise out of stress and trauma. Healing and recovery require a holistic, trauma-centered approach rather than a narrow "pill for a problem" approach. A good psychiatrist uses medications when necessary, and combines them with psychotherapy and active collaboration with other service providers and loved ones. A good psychiatrist creates a partnership with patients in what is called "integrative collaborative care." This approach goes beyond a pathology-based, diagnosis-driven treatment approach to a collaborative, patient-centered approach that builds on each patient's unique strengths, hopes and dreams.
I am a multi-award winning psychiatrist with over 35 years of experience. Unlike many psychiatrists, I am skilled at both psychopharmacology and psychotherapy, and combine them collaboratively to create a unique treatment experience for each patient. I have three board certifications in adult psychiatry, addiction psychiatry, and psychosomatic medicine.
