I am Dr. Michael, dually board certified as a Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP), and more recently as ADHD-CCSP (Certified Clinical Services Provider, by PESI). I come to Headway with nearly fifteen (15) year experience providing psychiatric/mental and behavioral healthcare in various clinical (inpatient & outpatient) environments. I have advanced degrees (Master's & PhD), and extensive college teaching experience in psychiatric/mental healthcare and psych medication management. I precept (teach & mentor) nurse practitioners including DNPs (doctors in nursing practice).
I take pride in my knowledge of, and deliberate approach to, psych medication management. I am a conservative and judicious prescriber; I strive for prescribing that makes sense and is based on collaboration between the client and I. I listen actively to clients, and I provide teaching, medication education and necessary talk-therapy as needed
