Maurice A. Wiggins, M.D. is a physician who is board-certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and is skilled in treating a wide spectrum of conditions in adolescents and adults. In his clinical practice, Doctor Wiggins recognized the need to help individuals that were not responding to traditional therapies, such as medication and or talk therapy. Subsequently, he expanded the scope of his practice to include TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) therapy. This allowed Dr. Wiggins to treat patients who were not responsive to medication alone.
TMS utilizes basic neuroscientific principles of brain connectivity to treat depression in a novel, non-invasive way. Dr. Wiggins’s passion for the brain and neuroscience has allowed him to stay at the forefront of medicine and psychiatry.
When clinically indicated, he combines TMS and other modern technologies, such as neuroimaging, fMRI-guided TMS, and genetic testing, in order to assist in diagnosis and treatment when presented with challenging cases. Dr. Wiggins looks forward to the continued use of these interventional modalities in order to help his patients find resilience and recover.
