I am a Clinical Nurse Specialist, Board Certified in adult psychiatry with many years of clinical experience in both inpatient, outpatient settings, as well as private practice. I provide psychiatric and medication evaluation with ongoing management for the major DSM Diagnoses and supportive therapy. This includes taking an in-depth history and development of an evidenced based treatment plan with identified goals. This process involves medication education with potential risks, benefits and side effects and alternative treatments available with time allowed for questions, clarification and understanding.
Essential is the establishment of mutual trust in a safe and secure environment. Mental health needs post Covid have increased the waitlists for therapy resulting in the need for including supportive psychotherapy providing a more holistic and integrated approach for healing and self empowerment, thereby preventing the need for a higher level of care.
Psychotherapy is provided using a variety of modalities such as motivational interviewing (MD), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), with a focus on problem solving techniques, improving insight and self-awareness of underlying issues and development of healthier coping skills, improving resilience and self-esteem.
