A central part of my professional identity is my commitment to children, adolescents, and families, particularly foster children and youth who have experienced instability, trauma, behavioral challenges, or involvement with complex systems of care.
My experience as a child advocate has given me a unique appreciation for the challenges families can encounter while navigating behavioral healthcare, schools, social services, juvenile systems, and community resources. My strength in working with high-risk and delinquent youth, I recognize that challenging behaviors often tell only one part of a much larger story.
At the heart of my work is a desire to create change, not only for individuals, but also the systems responsible for caring for vulnerable people. My background in nursing, public health, behavioral health, and child advocacy allows me to recognize gaps in care and look beyond traditional solutions. I am passionate about developing prevention programs.
Rather than “What is wrong with this child?” I believes care should also ask: “What has this child experienced, what does this child need, and what strengths can we build upon?” My goal is to create a space in which young people feel heard, respected, safe, and capable of change while also giving parents, foster parents, caregivers, and families support.
