Hi! I am Marja M. Evenden, M.D.,Ph.D. , ABPN -certified psychiatrist in Philadelphia area. I run a smaller private practice, offering my long clinical experience and extensive professional training (U.S., Europe), to help my patients to feel better and improve their quality of life. My special interests are: mood and anxiety disorders, correct use of benzodiazepines vs. issues with low dose benzodiazepine dependence, dual diagnoses and ADHD. I use several types of psychiatric treatment, and believe strongly in personalized medicine. My Ph.D. work was on the side effects of benzodiazepines. I work according to the Medical model.
I have a long training in medicine, psychiatry, pharmacology and treatment of dual diagnoses. I have worked with several key opinion leaders on mood disorders, and addiction (U of Penn, Charles O'Brien Treatment Center, Philadelphia, PA, and Karolinska Institute, Sweden). My research has been in human psychopharmacology, diagnostics and psychiatric genetics.
My goal is to offer individualized care for my patients. Being a working mother and having myself immigrated twice, I am keen on fostering resilience, optimism and mental flexibility in my patients.
