I am a board certified child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist. My psychotherapy training allows me to think holistically about the entire person and to focus on addressing the sources of difficulties. My medical training provides a biological understanding and expertise in psychopharmacology for when medication is warranted. I provide compassionate, evidence-based and practical care.

I begin with a comprehensive evaluation to understand the needs and strengths of each person. We would work in a collaborative way so that my services are personalized and effective and will often involve psychotherapy. I only recommend medications if medically indicated and have a conservative approach to keep them as simple as possible.

I am on faculty at Stanford as a psychiatrist in the General Clinic and the Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Clinic and as Director of the ADHD/Disruptive Behavior Clinic. Please see my website, MariKurahashiMD.com. Please note, I do not accept insurance. I encourage you to contact your insurance about out-of-network mental health benefits.
