Finding a Board Certified Integrative Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, one who approaches treatment from an evidence based clinical, holistic, developmental and systems based (family, school, etc) perspective is challenging. I am committed to improving lives of children, adolescents and their families. I specialize in Autism, Anxiety and OCD disorders. I treat these through Cognitive Behavioral, Exposure Response Prevention, Family or Parent Behavioral Management therapies with or without psychotropic medications. I incorporate mindfulness, psychoeducation, sensory and complimentary interventions as appropriate.
Partnering with families, schools and systems of care is my core philosophy. Understanding the family culture, parenting styles, and psycho-social influences is critical. Developing an effective treatment plan using strength based approaches can only be done in partnership. Alliance, Transparency and Education in treatment are my core principles.
I have my primary location in SF but also offer consultations in NYC. I offer Telepsychiatry sessions, Electronic Health records, eprescribing, easy access after hours, and under exceptional circumstances have made home visits for established patients. Groups
Social Warriors
'Social Warriors' is A Social Skills Group Therapy program that uses developmentally appropriate Cognitive and Behavioral therapy to enhance Social intelligence. The group also incorporates age appropriate Life skills assessment and training. This group stands out as being different from many other group therapies. The groups are divided by developmentally appropriate age groups. The therapist uses both Cognitive and Behavioral therapy along with developing Life skills. Social warriors serves ages 6 years-10 years, 11 years-13 years and 14 years-18 years. There are three groups held every Sunday for 60 minutes by a certified Behavioral therapist under supervision of Manisha Punwani, M.D.
