I am a Board certified, Adult, Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist. I provide comprehensive assessments & offer evidence based psychotherapy & medication management when indicated. I utilize a family approach & fervently believe in the importance of parental involvement in treatment in addition to collaborating closely with skilled therapists, other medical specialists & schools through out the treatment process. I see patients for medication management alone or medication management & psychotherapy and work with children, adolescents & young adults. I treat all disorders & am a out of network provider.

I am double board-certified in Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine. I believe in using both medication when indicated as well as therapy. I was trained in CBT and was given the Excellence in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy during my residency program. I use supportive therapy with each client I see. During my residency I served as Chief Resident and was awarded the Overall Excellence in Psychiatry Award as well as the Clinical Excellence Award.

I take a psychoanalytically-informed approach to helping individuals with symptom relief, emotional pain, and interpersonal growth. This involves a focus on the role of emotions in a person's mental life, a consideration of how psychological defenses may complicate achieving greater personal fulfillment, and exploration of how the relationship that unfolds between me and the patient may shed light on problematic interpersonal patterns. I integrate psychiatric medications in the therapeutic work whenever appropriate for the purpose of reducing emotional suffering, enhancing the capacity for reflection on painful experiences, and to facilitate relational understanding.

My ideal client would understand that the journey to wellness and recovery requires time, effort, and patience. They would be receptive to treatment suggestions which may include psychotherapy, behavioral interventions, and medication options. My patients would take an active role in their care, and engage in open and honest communication with their provider.

Therapy is my specialty, and I evaluate and prescribe medication only for patients I treat in therapy when it is truly indicated. I particularly enjoy working with individuals who are more interested in developing their own capacities than in complaining about the inadequacy of what they find outside themselves in the world and in other people. I do not provide "medication management" if that is a primary reason for consultation.
