Some challenges and transitions people encounter each day can change outlook, cause stress, bring difficulties, sadness, panic, depression, anxiety and emotional shock. These situations may leave clients confused, distraught and overwhelmed. Focus is to help clients deal with these presenting issues. Working through stressful times and helping clients to attain their optimal level of functioning is a priority. Medication management is big in this practice; however different treatment methods are used and tailored to fit each individual client need.

It helps to have supportive relationships when finding our way in the world. After all, we are always in relationship—with ourselves, with others, and with the larger world around us. I work with adults seeking psychiatric evaluation, thoughtful medication management, and integrative psychotherapy. Together, we create room for curiosity, creativity, and embodied awareness, supporting insight, self-determination, and meaning. I view medication and other therapeutic interventions as tools to help you uncover existing strengths, develop new resources, and move toward greater balance and connection.

I take a multimodal, integrative approach to working with clients, utilizing principles from psychodynamic therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, internal family systems, psychedelic-assisted therapy, somatic experiencing, and eastern philosophy/ spirituality.
While we cannot control what has happened to us, we can understand how our lives have shaped who we are, building awareness of our conditioned patterns. In doing so, we can come to understand and accept who we are in the service of opening ourselves up to all life has to offer.

Your spirituality or deeper philosophy of life feels central to who you are, but past therapy may have focused mostly on symptoms or diagnoses.
I offer spiritually integrated Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy that combines deep emotional work with an embodied understanding of the nervous system. Grounded in both contemplative practice and psychiatric training, I help clients reconnect with a stable inner center and gradually bring anxious or overwhelmed parts of their system back into balance.

Hi, I’m Lanika, a Nurse Practitioner. I invite you to meet with me and share what’s been going on. Take a moment to get comfortable — together, we’ll create a path to help you reach your goals. Life brings both ups and downs, and sometimes that means needing support with medication management. It can feel like a lot, but you’re in good hands. I specialize in working with adults who are managing anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, and more. My approach is collaborative: I’ll take time to get to know you, understand what’s worked (and what hasn’t) with your medications, and develop a personalized treatment plan that fits you.

I’m Julie Bass, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over a decade of experience across inpatient, outpatient, and complex psychiatric settings. I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, burnout, trauma, and major life transitions—often individuals who are high-functioning outwardly but internally overwhelmed or cognitively overloaded. Many of the patients I work with value depth, nuance, and clinical expertise, and are seeking thoughtful, personalized care rather than quick fixes or checklist-based treatment.

Congratulations for taking this step toward better mental health! I’m David, a transgender, neurodivergent, psychiatric NP with 13 years of experience. My well-rounded education supports my holistic and integrative approach and greatly improves diagnostic accuracy—the cornerstone of effective treatment. The adaptive teaching style that I developed as an educator empowers you to actively participate in your care. Nearly half of my typical caseload is complex cases; they are rewarding, not burdensome. Expert outpatient care helps to prevent hospitalization. In 2019 (pre-COVID), I made my services more accessible by taking them online.

Spirituality Psychiatrists
What should I expect from therapy that incorporates a focus on spirituality?
Spirituality can mean different things to different individuals, depending on their experiences, beliefs, and life histories. Some individuals focus on strengthening their belief system, while others experience spirituality in secular ways, such as through meditation, yoga, or by spending time in nature. Clients can expect a therapist to help guide and grow their spirituality through any of these techniques, encouraging the individual to cope with the challenges they face and develop strategies to build resilience and purpose to improve their outlook in life.

What are the most common treatments that include spirituality?
There are several treatments that incorporate spirituality. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) helps a person examine and reframe their negative thoughts and behaviors. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility. Existential therapy is most often used to address anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, apathy, despair, questions of identity, and feelings of purposelessness and existential dread. Transpersonal therapy focuses on a client’s spirituality and meaning in life and may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork.

Can therapy incorporating spirituality help atheistic or agnostic individuals?
Yes. For non-believers, spirituality can offer benefits including a greater sense of connection to others and to the natural world. An interest in spirituality may also spur individuals to pursue mindfulness practices, or to contemplate their purpose in life and how to achieve it.

How effective is spirituality as a therapeutic remedy?
Research suggests spirituality is generally beneficial for individuals. It is correlated with better health habits, such as less substance use, and an improved capacity to cope with stress and other mental health challenges. Increased spirituality can lead individuals to become more empathic and less materialistic, as well.
