I am licensed in NC and VA and run an all virtual practice. I can see patients who live in NC and VA. I enjoy patient interaction, helping people improve their day-to-day functioning with medications and brief counseling, psycho-ed and holistic solutions. I take the time to listen to patients and their stressors and histories; not just medicate them and move them along quickly.
My graduate training happened when I was on active duty as an Army Nurse so I have had a lot of training in PTSD, anxiety disorders, depression, insomnia, mood disorders and substance use disorders. I treat patients with anxiety disorders and PTSD without the use of benzodiazepines with great success.
My easy going personality and my 18 years of experience as a psychiatric NP helps put patients at ease and we are able to build a working relationship quickly and effectively. I really enjoy sharing the clinical knowledge I have gained in my practice with patients as we both witness the improvement in their mood, function and overall wellbeing.
