I am a board certified psychiatrist and fully trained psychoanalyst who has worked with adults in private practice for almost 25 years. Starting with a new therapist can feel daunting. My aim is to provide a safe atmosphere that will allow us to discuss what is distressing you. In therapy we might explore aspects of your life that are sensitive, painful, difficult or have never before been verbalized. The goal is that you will gain some new perspectives and bring these insights into your lived experience outside the therapy relationship.
Psychoanalytic therapy can alleviate emotional suffering, improve your self awareness and ability to regulate emotions, enhance your capacity to form and maintain close relationships, strengthen decision making capacity and a sense of agency in your life, increase work fulfillment, and help grieve past losses, among other benefits.
Therapy with me can provide you with tools to improve your life. I tailor my approach to meet your unique needs. Psychiatric medication is beneficial when there is a personal or family history of emotional disorders. Medication treatment, when indicated, often enhances the therapeutic process.
